Alza is on the move. Alza clearly sees 3D printing as a path for further growth, and after introducing their PLA filament with the unexpected name Alzament, they now present a new PETG material in two variants – PETG and PETG Hyper, which Alza claims can be printed at much higher speeds.
With Alzament, Alza has certainly hit the mark – although there are mixed feelings on discussion forums. Alza recently expanded the basic color range (article here) with many additional color combinations and tri-combinations. For example, pink, matte black, gold, a two-color combination of blue and pink, and even a gold-silver-copper blend, which will be suitable for various trophies and medals.
Now Alza comes with a PETG filament in two variants:
PETG with a printing temperature from 230°C – 250 °C and a (recommended) printing speed of up to 100mm/s. The filament diameter is 1.75mm with a tolerance of ±0.02mm.
PETG Hyper with a printing temperature from 230°C – 250 °C and a (recommended) printing speed of up to 300mm/s. The filament diameter is 1.75mm with a tolerance of ±0.02mm.
Alzament PETG is currently available in basic colors – black, blue, white, red, complemented by silver and gold.
Material | Advantages | Disadvantages |
---|---|---|
PLA | – Easy to print even on basic printers. – Good detail quality and surface finish. – Biodegradable, environmentally friendly. – Low odor during printing. | – Low resistance to heat and mechanical stress. – Brittle – easily breaks when bent. – Lower chemical resistance. |
PETG | – Higher strength and toughness than PLA. – Better resistance to heat and chemicals. – Less brittle, more impact-resistant. – Good layer adhesion, which increases print strength. | – Higher printing temperature and more complex settings. – May have a tendency to stringing. – Higher material costs than PLA. |
The price of PETG filament with a recommended printing speed of up to 100mm/s is 249 CZK/1kg.
PETG Hyper with a maximum recommended printing speed of 300mm/s costs 339 CZK/1kg (basic colors).
Alzament PLA starts at 249 CZK and varies further based on maximum printing speed (PLA, PLA+, Hyper PLA+).

Author’s reflection: When will Alza come out with its own 3D printer?
