NUCLEO-F411RE Pinout

NUCLEO-F411RE is an ST board with the low-power STM32F411RE (Cortex-M4F, 100 MHz). It’s popular in courses and in PlatformIO – it has Arduino Uno headers, ST Morpho headers and a built-in ST-LINK/V2-1 programmer and debugger.

The pin layout is the same as on NUCLEO-F401RE and F446RE (MB1136 board).

Specifications

  • STM32F411RE: Arm Cortex-M4 with FPU, 100 MHz
  • 512 kB flash, 128 kB SRAM
  • 50 GPIO on the Morpho headers, Arduino Uno R3 headers
  • 3× USART, 5× SPI (I2S), 3× I2C, 12-bit ADC, USB OTG
  • ST-LINK/V2-1: uploading, debugging and virtual COM port over mini USB
  • user button B1 (PC13), green LED LD2 (PA5)

You can program it in STM32CubeIDE, PlatformIO, the Arduino IDE (STM32duino) or MicroPython. You can also upload a program by simply copying a .bin file to the drive the board shows up as.

What to watch out for

  • D0 and D1 (PA3, PA2) go to the ST-LINK by default (virtual COM port) and are not on the header – solder jumpers SB62/SB63 connect them.
  • Logic is 3.3 V; only pins marked FT in the datasheet tolerate 5 V.
  • A4 and A5 are PC1 and PC0 by default; I2C is on D14/D15 (PB9/PB8).
  • When powering from VIN or E5V, move JP5 to the E5V position and remove JP1.
  • From revision C-02, PC14/PC15 and PH0 are taken by the crystal and the clock from the ST-LINK.
