NanoPi NEO4: pre-release specification and pictures

NanoPi NEO4 isn’t officially released but we already have the pre-release specification and pictures of that.

What can we expect?

Processor RK3399 (Dual-Core Cortex-A72 @2.0GHz, Quad-Core Cortex-A53 @1.5GHz, Mali-T864 GPU) has popularity of manufacturers hence this processor will be on NanoPi NEO4.

The processor RK3399 belongs to processor family which support USB 3.0. NEO4 contains USB 3.0 Type A connector and also USB 3.0 Type C which is dedicated for powering and communication.

That’s change against NanoPi M4 which also includes USB Type C, but it is connected only to USB 2.0 interface.

NEO4 will contain also USB 2.0 and it will be in dual-layer connector with USB 3.0.

The ethernet interface will be supported by RTL8211 PHY with RJ45 connector.

WiFi connection is based on RTL8189EVB (specification of this version of RTL8189 isn’t on internet).

The board contains:

2x connector for PCIe

connector for MIPI-CSI

HDMI 2.0

eMMC connector

1 GB RAM (is not sure if 32 or 64 bit)

The single-board computer can be powered by USB Type C or 4 pin header.

The board should be released in September of this year (2018). The price is unknown.
