Prusa has updated its entire printer lineup: XL+, CORE One L+, and CORE One+ (Gen 2).

Prusa announced on August 12 an update across their entire lineup. The XL becomes the XL+, the CORE One L becomes the CORE One L+, and the CORE One+ is now labeled Gen 2. Prices stay the same, and all the new features will later be offered as upgrade kits for existing machines.

Don’t expect major changes or big upgrades, though. These improvements are “small” but you’ll notice them on every print.

The updates do not apply to the Prusa Mini.

What all three printers received

GT1.5 belts. They reduce VFAs—those fine, repeating patterns on smooth surfaces. The difference shows up most on large, flat walls.

Nozzle wiper. Before a print starts it removes any ooze from the nozzle so stray filament or blobs don’t end up on the first layer. Prusa says they deliberately chose a standard solution already used across the market. It’s a consumable part, so replacements are available outside their own shop.

CORE One+ (Gen 2)

The smallest enclosed model received the most changes, and most of them affect the time before a print even begins.

  • Redesigned heated-bed mounting. It holds flatness better and heats up faster.
  • Removed the “heat soak” step for materials that only need 85 °C or less on the bed—PLA, PETG and similar. Start-up is quicker even with higher-temperature materials.
  • Removable top panel borrowed from the CORE One L. You can lift it off without tools in a few seconds.
  • More robust mechanism for the automatic top vent grille.

The benefit is obvious: less waiting between hitting print and the moment you can check the first layer and walk away.

XL+

The XL+ keeps its original size; that hasn’t changed. The good news is that the XL wasn’t forgotten—several improvements are coming to it as well, especially 360° part cooling and a high-flow nozzle as standard.

  • 360° part cooling taken from the MK4S and CORE One series. More airflow and more even distribution around the nozzle, helping overhangs, bridging and fine details.
  • New tool-offset sensor derived from INDX. It aligns the tool heads before every print, which matters most for multi-color work. The old calibration with removable pins took several minutes; the new fixed eddy-current sensor is roughly 20× faster according to Prusa. The upcoming silicone tool head (autumn 2026) is already factored in.
  • High-flow nozzles as standard.
  • Chamber ready for 60 °C. The new, better-sealing enclosure reaches 50 °C from printer heat alone. 60 °C requires the forthcoming chamber heater (no release date yet). Prusa mentions benefits for large PC Blend and PCCF parts but stresses PETG and dimensional stability.

CORE One L+

The shortest list, because the CORE One L only launched recently and already included many of the new features. It gains only the GT1.5 belts and the nozzle wiper. Everything else stays the same: 300 × 300 × 330 mm, active chamber-temperature control, large aluminum AC heated bed.

Availability and upgrades

Assembled CORE One+ (Gen 2) and CORE One L+ units are shipping now; the XL+ follows at the end of August. Kits, upgrade packages and individual parts will roll out over the coming weeks.

Anyone who ordered an older version that hasn’t shipped yet will automatically receive the new model regardless of order date. No action or cancellation is required.

Upgrade kits start with the CORE One+; kits for the CORE One L+ and XL+ are due end of August and early September respectively. Existing XL, CORE One L and CORE One machines continue to receive firmware, profiles, documentation, spare parts and support.

Owners of a pre-ordered Bondtech INDX conversion kit should wait on the Gen 2 upgrade according to Prusa; details on the INDX upgrade path will be published in the coming days.

What’s still coming

Besides the hardware refresh, Prusa hinted at several other items.

INDX for CORE One+. Automatic tool changing that swaps colors, materials and even nozzle diameters mid-print with minimal waste. First kits are shipping soon and are fully compatible with Gen 2. Testing is also running on the CORE One L.

Automatic Pressure Advance calibration. A new model accounts for how filament behaves at different flow rates instead of relying on fixed values. The load-cell sensor measures the loaded filament before every print and calibrates two parameters. Acceleration limits based on extrusion are also added so the printer doesn’t ask the extruder for the impossible. No release date yet.

PrusaSlicer 3.0. The first alpha is expected in a few weeks. The changes will also affect current and older supported printers.

HT Hotend in September. For high-temperature engineering materials, for the CORE One L/+ and CORE One / One+ / One+ (Gen 2). Release was delayed while testing filaments from other manufacturers, mainly because some brittle materials break in the feeding mechanism.

Prusa Connect Local instead of PrusaLink. A ground-up successor that brings Prusa Connect features to the local network without the cloud. It’s meant to be open, extensible and multiprotocol so the community can add its own integrations. Early access is planned, with the first round aimed at technical users comfortable compiling their own software.

Summary

Taken individually they’re small details; together they add up to cleaner, faster print starts, smoother surfaces and quicker tool-head calibration on the XL.
